Our Super Lawyers/Rising Stars
Each year the magazine Law & Politics sends a ballot to the active lawyers in a state or region who have been in practice for five or more years. The ballot asks lawyers to nominate the best lawyers they have personally observed in action. The nominees are then grouped into more than 60 practice areas. Those nominees with the highest point totals from each practice area are invited to serve on a blue ribbon panel. Each blue ribbon panelist reviews and scores a list of nominees from their primary practice area. Super Lawyers represent the top 5 percent of Texas Attorneys. The list of Texas Super Lawyers is published annually in the October issues of Texas Monthly and Texas Super Lawyers.
Each year the magazine Law & Politics sends ballots to the most recent group of Super Lawyers. Super Lawyers are asked to vote for the best attorneys who are either 40 or under or who have been practicing 10 or fewer years. They are instructed to vote for lawyers they have personally observed in action. In addition to the general survey, an attorney-led research team reviews the credentials of potential Rising Stars and assigns points based on defined criteria. The point totals from the general survey and research are then added arrive at a final tally. The lawyers are ranked by point totals and the list is cut until approximately 2.5 percent of the best young lawyers in each remain. The list of Texas Rising Stars is published annually in Texas Monthly.
